I've got something special for you this week: the first segment of the illustrated version of the SWQ storyline, as drawn by Damaramu. This is some very nice work, so be sure to check it out!

DM test development continues to slowly move through the cleanup and polish phase. All of the elements are there, but there are still a number of fixes which need to be made, placeholder art that needs to be replaced, and so on. It's a slow process, but each item we check off is bringing us that much closer to a "release-ready" version of the mod.

At the moment we're juggling quite a few things to help bring us to that goal, but today I'd rather talking about something a little more fun. You may recall that we wanted to make our "flag" for the CTF mode a little more unique and Star-Warsish. Well, we've certainly done that, as we've decided to change Capture the Flag to Capture the Jawa. Instead of toting a flag or banner around, you'll be tossing a kicking, screaming Jawa over your back, with the object being to make it back to your base in one piece before its constant stream of sound leads your enemies straight to you. Some of the team members were questionable as to whether or not you would all see this in the same light that the rest of us do, but speaking personally, I think this is going to be great fun <g>.

More details on the way next week. For the present, be sure to check out issue 1 of the illustrated story! And be on the watch for something else next week which I know you've all be waiting for: new screenshots! [ rk ]

Another slow week for us, mostly due to the fact that the majority of the remaining work is code-related, and our programmers have been tied up of late. However, Rip did put together another .dll for us, which included a number of fixes, and Privateer has taken care of a number of replacement item models as well.

Other than that, I don't have much to say this week. It's been a busy one for us all, but things are still coming along. Rip is promising to put some more hours into bug fixing, which should wipe out a lot of the items on the DM test's critical todo list. 'Til then. [ rk ]

Things moved a little bit slower this week, but some decent progress was still made. We tracked down several more bugs with the weapons and Force powers which are in the process of being fixed now. RipVTide has removed the spawn pads from the game, which we feel is for the best, and based on your feedback, you agree with us. As for the suggestion of adding a different effect upon player spawns, that's something I'd very much like to do, but it will be placed on the non-critical list.

Rip has also updated the saberonly play mode to remove all other weapons entirely (previously, they had still remained visible, just unusable). He's now working on improving the CTF mode, and adding variable mouse sensitivity to the Nightstinger.

The Force sounds I mentioned last week have been converted to .wav files, and Rip should have those implemented in his next code build, possibly along with some new weapon sounds, if [S]evered has them ready.

In parting this week, I'm happy to be able to say that falkon2 is back with us, though it will be a little while before he is back up to speed and ready to contribute again. Nonetheless, we're glad to have him, as it will be a great pleasure to keep as many of the contributors together as possible when the mod is finally released. My thanks again to all of you for your continued interest in SWQ, and here's hoping that we'll be able to bring it to you soon! [ rk ]
